Job Description

 

 

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager Surface Maintenance planning & Reliability , the incumbent is responsible for reliability engineering and equipment condition monitoring, SAP implementation, budget development, cost control and employee capacity building to support and enable the surface heavy mining equipment maintenance planning and execution functions to ensure fit for targeted maintenance activities aligned with asset lifecycle strategies in a safe and cost-effective manner, in line with KCC and Glencore Asset Management Frameworks and Standards (AMF)
 

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive list):

•    Lead the surface maintenance execution team to ensure success by identifying and ensuring required skills, equipment, tools and materials are defined, planned and available on the job.
 

 

4. Lifecycle strategy, costs, budget and governance.

 

•    Define asset lifecycle strategy and support cost models that define and enable zero-based budgeting.
•    Maintain and comply with budgeting, forecasting, cost management and analysis processes ensuring compliance with corporate financial reporting and governance policies, procedures and standards.
•    Ensure the development of the life cycle strategy for the surface mining fleet, including operating, maintenance and disposal strategies and costs to enable asset life decisions.
•    Enable the execution of lifecycle cost models through the effective application of condition monitoring, reliability engineering for defect elimination, training and cost analysis to inform asset life decisions.
•    Provide budgets and forecasts in line with business planning and asset lifecycle.
•    Manage the company's operational and capital costs against budget and forecast commitments.
•    Maintain strict adherence to costs and performance through efficient mid-month and end-of-month financial processes.
•    Regularly analyze expenses, commitments and physical items to address discrepancies.

 


5. Enterprise Resource Management:

 

•    Lead the SAP deployment within HME Mobile Maintenance and train users by anticipating issues and guiding the team to achieve agreed departmental and business objectives to ensure business value is maintained and enhanced.
•    Act as a subject matter expert for SAP within HME Mobile Maintenance.
•    Own the SAP deployment within HME Maintenance, ensuring that the deployment is supported by adequate training resources for effective skills transfer and development.
•    Participate in the SAP project with SAP consultants and trainers.
•    Supervise SAP user acceptance testing throughout the project and during the work package acceptance and user acceptance testing cycles.
•    Approve the implementation of HME Mobile Maintenance.
•    Ensure that the use of SAP enables excellence in maintenance planning, scheduling, bills of materials and parts management to achieve benefits in maintenance planning, quality, cost and efficiency.


 

6. Reliability, systems and capabilities:

 

•    Effectively deploy reliability engineering and equipment condition monitoring to extend component life, reduce machine downtime, and optimize maintenance strategies by ensuring the required maintenance skills are available to perform the job.
•    Develop and optimize the reliability engineering and condition monitoring strategy, enabling asset lifecycle cost analysis and supported in execution by capacity building of the manager.
•    Leverage online and condition monitoring data with supporting analytics to improve asset reliability.
•    Effectively deploy data and analytics to drive reliability engineering and condition monitoring to extend component life while reducing unplanned component failures.
•    Support maintenance and operations strategy for reliability and analyze supporting KPIs.
•    Own and integrate the tribology laboratory team into the condition monitoring function to effectively and timely utilize hydrocarbon data to inform maintenance decisions.
 

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

•    Have a degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanics, or an equivalent degree;
•    Have 10 years of experience in maintenance management and 5 years in a management position;
•    Proven experience in HME maintenance condition monitoring and reliability engineering.
•    Expert in planning and execution of maintenance of heavy mining equipment;
•    Expert in asset lifecycle cost modeling and zero-based budgeting.
•    Subject matter expert in SAP and planning.
•    Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
•    Hold a job seeker card (ONEM).

 

Technical skills.

 

•    Mastery of the fundamental principles of hydrogeology : water cycle, properties of aquifers, hydrodynamics, geochemistry of groundwater.
•    Knowledge of hydrogeological investigation methods : drilling, piezometry, pumping tests, geophysics, geochemistry.
•    Proficiency in the use of measurement and data collection tools : multi-parameter probes , flow meters, GPS, data processing software (e.g.: Aquachem , MODFLOW).
•    Knowledge of mapping and modeling software : ArcGIS, Surfer, Visual MODFLOW.
•    Proficiency in office tools : Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•    Knowledge of French or Swahili is an advantage.
