Job description
Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Manager , the incumbent will be primarily responsible for supporting the Logistics Manager in the management and supervision of all activities within the Logistics Department. They will ensure that the transport of all consumables, equipment, etc., both internationally and locally, is carried out in a timely manner and in compliance with DRC customs regulations.
He will have to assume the following main responsibilities:
• Coordinate the needs of internal stakeholders and verify accuracy;
• Participate in stock planning based on demand and delivery time;
• Ensure the delivery of materials according to needs and in collaboration with the various stakeholders;
• Provide proactive and daily follow-up with customs officers and carriers;
• Ensure follow-up and communication of delivery times to users;
• Manage import and transportation expenses according to forecasts and budgets;
• Ensure that invoices comply with the agreed contract and are approved by management;
• Monitor customs clearance activity carried out by customs agencies, including physical verification of work performed ;
• Protect the company from any potential exposure to customs transaction penalties by ensuring that customs clearance activities comply with all national and even international regulations;
• Define and manage KPIs for carriers and customs agencies;
• Engage daily truck parking lot supervisors to ensure proper management of logistics activities and truck movements from the site to stores or elsewhere;
• Verify the accuracy of the logistics information provided daily, such as confirmation of truck replacements and tracking of trucks waiting;
• Verify the accuracy and completeness of the logistics information provided for all items in stock;
• Collect confirmation of truck replacements from customs agencies and provide information to the Logistics Manager and other stakeholders on expected quantities and dates;
• Immediately inform members of the security team of any security incidents observed, including any incidents involving KCC personnel or any trucks en route to or from KCC;
• Identify opportunities for improvement in your sector and make necessary recommendations.
Job requirements
Qualifications and experience
• Hold a university degree in Accounting, Logistics, Customs or similar disciplines
• Have at least 8 years of professional experience in Materials Logistics, Transport or Customs;
• Having mastery of the knowledge of ISO9001/TS16949 quality;
• Proficiency in computer tools (MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
• Having a mastery of customs legislation;
• Perfect mastery of import activities.
