Job description
Under the supervision of the Senior Logistics Controller - General Cargo & Projects, the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and controlling all operations related to international transit and customs clearance of general freight and Project Cargo, from pre-shipment inspections to on-site availability, while ensuring regulatory compliance, adherence to deadlines and the reliability of documents and data.
He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
• Coordinate pre-shipment inspections with shippers, suppliers and freight forwarders (BIVAC).
• Verify and process the RFI forms submitted by the suppliers.
• Check the consistency of Inspection Reports (IR) and post-inspection information.
• Follow up on preliminary notifications and Verification Attestations (VA) and resolve any queries.
• Check the compliance of AVs with validated licenses (tariff positions, quantities, unit prices).
• Plan and confirm customs agency allocations according to approved volumes and allocation keys.
• Monitor the sending and validation of pre-alerts before the dispatch of trucks and record the information in the logistics and SEGUCE systems.
• Ensure the generation and monitoring of transit documents (TR8 / T1) within regulatory deadlines.
• Supervise post-shipment border operations for General Cargo and Project Cargo.
• Coordinate border-site transit times and the entry of consumption declarations, while maintaining operational standards.
• Participate in the performance evaluation of customs agencies, carriers and border representatives.
• Ensure regulatory compliance of imports/exports with licenses, exemptions and official authorizations.
• Maintaining customs and regulatory monitoring, and assisting during internal and external audits.
• Produce detailed reports on shipments, lead times, status and performance of logistics partners.
• Ensure regular and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders and escalate operational or regulatory roadblocks.
Job requirements
Qualifications and experience
• Hold a university degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or any other equivalent qualification.
• Possess a minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience in the management of logistics operations, international transit and/or customs clearance.
• Have practical experience in monitoring pre-shipment inspections, validating customs documents and controlling import/export licenses.
• Possess in-depth knowledge of customs procedures, the customs code, exchange regulations and regulatory requirements related to imports and exports.
Technical skills.
• Possess practical knowledge of BIVAC, SEGUCE, customs and tariff codes.
• Proficiency in international transit procedures, organization of BIVAC inspections and management of pre-shipment documents.
• Ability to control the consistency of Inspection Reports, pre-alerts and transit documents (TR8 / T1).
• Knowledge of managing relationships with freight forwarders, suppliers, shippers and customs agencies.
• Skills in performance monitoring and reporting of logistics partners and adherence to deadlines.
• The ability to communicate in french and english, both verbally and in writing would be an asset.
