Job description
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor , the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of underground loading and transport equipment to maximize its availability and reliability. Their primary responsibilities will include loaders, trucks, and other equipment associated with loading and transport operations, particularly Caterpillar equipment. The role encompasses preventive maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, repair, and recommissioning. They will also contribute to the analysis of recurring failures and the improvement of fleet performance.
His/Her essential functions will include, among others (non-exhaustive list):
• Perform preventive maintenance on loading and transport equipment. This includes carrying out maintenance programs and inspections in accordance with maintenance plans and manufacturer requirements.
• Inspect the mechanical and hydraulic systems. This includes the hydraulic, pneumatic, transmission, braking, steering, cooling and lubrication systems.
• Diagnosing mechanical failures . This includes using technical information, diagrams, manufacturer's manuals and diagnostic equipment to identify the causes of failures.
• Carry out the necessary repairs . This includes adjustments, repairs, component replacements and interventions to restore the equipment to working order.
• Responding to equipment failures . This includes handling urgent interventions, identifying the fault, and reducing downtime.
• Verify the conformity of the repairs. This includes post-intervention inspections, functional tests, and verification of safety devices.
• Analyze recurring failures. This includes analyzing maintenance history, component condition, and equipment performance.
• Ensure traceability of interventions . This includes recording work performed, parts used, defects observed, and the status of equipment in SAP.
• Collaborating with other maintenance functions . This includes coordination with planning, reliability, mining operations, technical services, HSE and supply chain.
• Participate in investigations and maintenance improvement . This includes technical analyses, feedback, identification of improvement opportunities and implementation of approved actions.
Job requirements
Qualifications and experience
• State diploma in general mechanics or automotive mechanics;
• Demonstrate at least five (5) years of experience in the maintenance of underground mobile mining equipment or heavy industrial equipment.
• Practical experience on Sandvik and/or Caterpillar underground equipment or equivalent technologies.
• Solid knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Knowledge of transmission, braking, steering, cooling and lubrication systems, according to the scope of the equipment.
• Experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, component replacement and inspection.
• Proficiency in SAP or a computerized maintenance management system is an advantage.
