Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Superintendent, the Supervisor-Investigation and Mitigation is responsible for the Implementation of the environmental improvement programs to promote increased environmental performance and continuous improvement.

 

Minimum qualification 

 

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Geology/Hydrology, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), or a related field.

 

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an environmental sector (preferably in charge of monitoring).
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in a supervisory position is required.

 

Required skills

 

  • Fluency in French, English, and Swahili.
  • Experience in operating within ISO 14001 type standards.
  • Experience with implementation and management of environmental programs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Cross-cultural communication skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Carrying routine inspections on the overall site to identify any negative environmental impact. 
  • Conduct drainage inspection and follow remedial actions.
  • Report and investigation environmental incidents and follow up remedial actions. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain management plans as required.
  • Develop and implement procedures regarding incidents, inspection, and drainage.
  • To develop the MUMI site overall environmental risk assessment by identifying aspects and impacts and providing control measures to address the impacts.
  • To develop the environmental training module and awareness to all employees (Supervisors).
  • Create a strong partnership with the other Departments to ensure that Environment is integrated within all aspects of the business.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Health, Safety and Environment initiatives.
  • Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's enviromental policy.
