Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer , the primary role of the incumbent will be to lead the Asset Reliability function and oversee all maintenance and engineering strategies. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring operational effectiveness, protecting assets, the environment, the community and personnel from catastrophic failures, while adhering to corporate policies and management frameworks.


He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):


•    Ensure governance of management systems : This includes overseeing the asset management framework, change management processes, the maintenance management system, and the engineering document management system. This involves ensuring that all systems and processes are correctly implemented and followed to ensure the reliability and integrity of the company's assets;

•    Lead the Asset Reliability function : This includes establishing asset safety policies, conducting equipment risk assessments and defining engineering standards. The objective is to ensure a proactive and robust approach to risk management and equipment safety;
•    Coordinate major shutdowns : This includes centrally coordinating all shutdowns and critical equipment assemblies for the business. This responsibility aims to minimize unplanned downtime and optimize productivity during planned maintenance operations;
•    Develop asset and maintenance plans : This includes developing long-term asset and maintenance plans that are aligned with the mine life and long-term strategic planning. The aim is to ensure a clear vision and a sustainable approach to asset management;
•    Establish performance indicators : This includes aligning with global asset reliability indicators, monitoring them, and producing relevant reports. This responsibility aims to measure and continuously improve reliability and maintenance performance;
•    Optimizing the integrity of critical assets : This includes recording all critical assets and optimizing their long-term integrity by applying the asset management framework. The goal is to extend the life of equipment and prevent failures;
•    Manage the maintenance budget : This includes developing and managing zero-based OPEX and CAPEX budgets for all maintenance disciplines. This involves ensuring rigorous and effective financial management of resources;
•    Conduct ongoing benchmarking : This includes benchmarking performance with other departments and analyzing trends that may affect asset reliability. This responsibility aims to identify best practices and adapt to changes in the industrial environment;
•    Developing staff skills : This includes managing the overall skills development program, including training and mentoring technicians, engineers and managers. The objective is to ensure that staff have the necessary skills at all levels to maintain high performance;
•    Managing Contractor Relationships : This includes the ongoing management of strategic partners through the Contract Management Framework. This responsibility aims to ensure that contractor services are aligned with corporate objectives.

 

Job requirements .


Qualifications and experience.

 

•    Hold an engineering degree in mechanics, electromechanics, electricity or equivalent qualification in technical business studies. An additional qualification in business or financial administration is an asset;
•    Have at least 15 years of relevant and successful experience in the mining industry;
•    At least 10 years of proven experience in a senior management role, managing large teams and being responsible for substantial budgets.

 

Technical skills.

 

•    Engineering and Maintenance Leadership : Proven expertise in leading asset reliability functions and governing maintenance strategies;
•    Risk Management : Ability to assess asset integrity risks and implement effective controls, and Ability to take a long-term perspective, manage multiple competing priorities and make informed strategic and tactical decisions;
•    Financial knowledge : Skills in developing and managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets;
•    Systems Proficiency : In-depth knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Asset Management frameworks; and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the key drivers of mine maintenance practices;
•     Data Analysis : Ability to analyze key performance indicators and perform comparative analyses;
