Job Description

 

 

Reporting to the CFO, the General Manager Finance is responsible for the company’s entire financial function.
In this capacity, the role involves: Taking responsibility for the full financial function, ensuring that an excellent internal control environment is maintained, and financial performance is reliably and consistently measured and presented in a relevant and useful format.

 


He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Responsible for management of Performance of the Finance Function
  • Responsible for building capacity within the Finance Function and capability of team members
  • Accountable for full finance function (incl. Financial accounting, Business Analysis and Planning, Treasury, Statutory Financial reporting in IFRS and OHADA, Financial Systems ) with oversight on all financial duties and maintaining rigorous policies and internal controls.
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders on the development and execution of life of mine plans, annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Responsible for delivering accurate cost reports to enable performance management across all departments, including end to end value analysis, review and reporting of operating cost, capital expenditure and working capital.
  • Responsible for conducting Monthly Balance Sheet analysis and ensuring that appropriate remedial business actions are undertaken
  • Provide financial insight, analysis and support to key stakeholders.
  • Oversee and ensure appropriate controls over commercial transactions
  • Responsible for accurate, on time and meaningful reporting of financial information in accordance with statutory and Glencore Group requirements in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to finance, tax, and/or statutory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain, review and/or improve systems, policies, procedures and/or standards related to the finance function.
  • Ensure Compliance with relevant Glencore Group standards.

 

 

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience

 

  • A Post Graduate Financial Qualification and/or Accounting Professional Qualification
  • A Post Graduate Business Qualification would be advantageous
  • A Minimum of 10 years commercial experience (preferably in natural resource industry).
  • Experience working in multiple jurisdictions within the mining sector in Africa or internationally.
  • Demonstrated a history of managing large teams of highly skilled and experienced personnel with diverse cultural backgrounds in a fast-paced environment.
