Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Job description.

 

Reporting directly to the Director of Integrated Operation, the incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and rigorous oversight of all asset protection and security operations across KCC’s operational territory, with a focus on risk mitigation in a high-stakes environment such as the DRC. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing long-term asset protection strategies, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and seamlessly integrating security measures into operational priorities. He/she will also champion KCC’s commitment to security, sustainability, and compliance with international security and human rights standards, thereby creating a secure environment for KCC personnel, assets, and community stakeholders.

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Develop and Execute the Asset Protection Strategy . This includes developing a comprehensive strategic framework for protecting KCC’s assets, taking into account emerging risks and operational challenges. It also involves integrating security and protection measures into KCC’s overall business strategy.
  • Managing and Minimizing Risks . This involves conducting risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and scenario planning. It also involves undertaking initiatives to mitigate threats, including implementing physical security measures, technology upgrades, and community engagements.
  • Develop and Supervise the Team . This involves leading, mentoring and developing a high performing asset protection team, ensuring succession planning and talent development. It also involves setting performance targets and providing regular reviews to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Managing Incidents and Crises . This involves overseeing responses to major security incidents, coordinating efforts with legal, operational and external stakeholders. It also involves ensuring thorough investigations, timely resolution and implementation of preventative measures.
  • Manage Stakeholder and Community Relationships. This includes acting as the primary liaison with government agencies, local law enforcement, and community stakeholders to foster trust and prevent security-related conflicts. It also includes ensuring that asset protection efforts are aligned with KCC’s social license to operate.
  • Ensuring Compliance and Reporting . This involves ensuring that all asset protection activities are compliant with KCC policies, legal requirements and international standards. It also involves providing regular reports on security performance, incident trends and mitigation plans to executive management.
  • Providing Strategic Leadership . This involves establishing and driving long-term strategies for KCC’s asset protection framework, adapting to emerging risks and challenges. It also involves ensuring the integration of security and protection measures into KCC’s overall business strategy.
  • Providing On-Site Presence and Active Leadership . This involves being present on the ground and providing leadership advice on key issues, even when not on-site. It also involves upholding KCC and Glencore ’s highest standards of confidentiality, integrity and ethical behaviour .

 

Job requirements .

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Hold a university degree in security management, risk management, criminal justice or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Have a minimum of 15 years of experience in asset protection or security management, including at least 8 years in a senior leadership role , including 5 years in the mining industry or other high-risk environments.
  • Proven experience in managing security operations in the mining industry or other high-risk environments.
  • In-depth expertise in risk assessment, emergency response and crisis management.
  • Hold a job seeker card (ONEM).

 

Technical skills.

 

  • Strong skills in developing relationships with government and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify, assess and prioritize risks related to the safety of people and property, then to implement effective prevention and mitigation measures.
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic security systems (alarms, video surveillance, access control), patrol procedures and investigation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of legal frameworks for asset protection in the DRC and compliance with VPSHR standards.
  • Proficiency in implementing large-scale security projects and operations
  • IT tools: Good command of IT tools (Office suite, security management software, etc.).
  • Proficiency in English. Proficiency in French or Swahili would be an advantage.
