Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.
As an industrial mining company, we provide safe workplaces and support the sustainable development of the local economy. We maintain a constructive and open dialogue with the communities that host us, as well as with the provincial and national government.
Under the direct supervision of the Mine Engineering Superintendent, the Engineer: Mine Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining and optimizing short-term schedules for underground mining operations to support safe, efficient and on-target production. He/she will ensure alignment between mine plans, production targets and operational constraints of the field. The position involves monitoring the performance of schedules, analyzing gaps between planned and realized, as well as identifying risks and opportunities for optimization. He/she will work closely with the Underground Operations, Maintenance, Geology and HSE teams. The position actively contributes to the continuous improvement of the performance of the copper and cobalt mine.
He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Develop and maintain short-term underground mining schedules. This includes the development of detailed timelines covering development, stopping and backfilling activities, taking into account operational priorities and available capacity.
- Ensure alignment between mine plans and production objectives. This includes consistency between approved technical plans, daily, weekly and monthly production targets, as well as underground operational constraints.
- Integrate geological, geotechnical and operational data into schedules. This includes using information from geology, rock mass stability, and operational conditions to produce realistic and executable schedules.
- Monitor the execution of schedules and analyze variances. This includes comparing planned and actual production in terms of tons, meters, and grades, as well as identifying the causes of delays or overperformance.
- Identify planning risks and bottlenecks. This includes the proactive analysis of operational constraints, equipment limitations, labor issues, and geotechnical factors that may impact production.
- Optimize productivity and equipment utilization. This includes analyzing work cycles, downtime, equipment availability, and performance indicators to improve the overall efficiency of underground operations.
- Coordinate with operational and support teams. This includes working closely with the underground operations, maintenance, HSE and planning teams to ensure feasible and safe schedules.
- Produce production forecasts and support planning cycles. This includes contributing to weekly, monthly and annual plans, as well as developing production scenarios based on the mine's capabilities and constraints.
- Prepare and present technical and operational reports. This includes weekly and monthly reporting on work progress, delays, forecasts, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reconciliation results.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and internal standards. This includes the systematic integration of HSE requirements and company standards into all mine planning and planning activities.
