Job Description
The Drill and Blast Engineer role provides drill and blast services to ensure safe and efficient underground blasting operations. The role will oversee Drill and Blast plans. The Drill and Blast Engineer will create drill and blast plans, monitoring performance, and collaborating with various teams to meet production targets.
He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):

- Health, Safety, Environment, Community & Risk.
- Developing and optimizing drill and blast designs, including ring designs and charge plans to achieve desired fragmentation, powder factors, and ore recovery.
- QAQC of Drill and blast operations, ensuring compliance with stope designs and monitoring blast performance.
- Analyzing drill and blast data, identifying deviations from design, and implementing corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensuring all drilling and blasting activities adhere to the Glencore Fatal Hazard Protocols, legislation, environmental guidelines, and company policies.
- Working closely with Planning Engineers, Operational Superintendents and Supervisors, and other stakeholders to coordinate drilling and blasting activities and address any operational issues.
- Providing technical support and guidance on drilling and blasting techniques, explosives, and related equipment.
- Identifying opportunities for improving drill and blast practices, implementing new technologies, and promoting a culture of safety and efficiency.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and experience

- At least a Mining Engineering degree from a recognized Institution.
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar underground position
- Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement strategies in Underground Drill and Blast practices.
- Proficiency in drill and blast design software, data analysis, and related mining technologies. (e.g. Deswik, ShotPlus – advantage)
- Experience in Electronic blasting solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in French. English language skills will be considered an advantage.
