Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor – Electrical, the Controller: Electrical Parts will be responsible for the management, control and availability of electrical parts for Dewatering's operations  within the open pit mine (copper and cobalt). He/she will ensure the optimization of stocks, the compliance of electrical equipment and effective coordination with the maintenance and supply teams. The substation contributes directly to the continuity of pumping operations and the reliability of electrical installations. The incumbent will also be responsible for documentary monitoring, traceability and compliance with the safety standards in force on site.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

 

  •  Ensure the management of electrical dewatering parts. This includes the inventory, control, identification and provision of the electrical parts needed for pumping systems, motors, control panels and associated equipment.
  • Control stock levels and anticipate needs. This includes monitoring minimum and maximum levels, analyzing consumption, anticipating shortages, and coordinating with the purchasing department to ensure the continuous availability of critical parts.
  •  Verify the technical conformity of the parts received. This includes inspecting technical specifications , verifying certificates of conformity, and ensuring that parts meet industry standards and mine site requirements.
  •  Maintain rigorous traceability of stock movements. This includes the accurate recording of inputs and outputs in the management system, the archiving of technical documentation and the regular updating of databases.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance and operations teams. This includes regular communication with electricians, planners and supervisors to identify operational needs and ensure effective support for field interventions.
  •  Optimize the management and storage of electrical parts. This includes the proper organization of the warehouse, compliance with storage conditions (protection against moisture, dust, etc.) and the continuous improvement of inventory management processes.
  • Participate in the planning of preventive maintenance. This includes identifying critical parts needed for planned interventions and preparing maintenance kits for dewatering equipment.
  •  Contribute to cost reduction and budget optimization. This includes analyzing consumer trends, proposing compatible technical alternatives, and reducing obsolete or excess inventory.
  •  Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) standards. This includes strict enforcement of safety procedures, safe handling of electrical components, and participation in site safety initiatives.
  • Conduct periodic audits and performance reports. This includes participating in physical inventories, preparing reports on the status of stocks, discrepancies and recommendations for improvement.

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree in Industrial Electricity, Electromechanics or related field.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical parts management or electrical maintenance, ideally in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience in an open-pit mine (major asset).
  • Experience in pumping and dewatering systems (highly desired).
  • Knowledge of logistics and stock management processes.

 

Technical skills.

 

  • Knowledge of industrial electrical components (motors, drives, transformers, MCC panels, wiring, etc.).
  • Understanding of pumping systems and dewatering installations.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and ERP tools (SAP or equivalent).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Good command of computer tools (Excel, reporting systems).
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards in the mining environment.
