Job description.

 

Under the direct supervision of the Quantity Surveyor Superintendent, the incumbent will be primarily responsible for ensuring the effective coordination and control of quantity surveying activities for mining projects (copper and cobalt), in compliance with contractual and budgetary requirements. They will guarantee the accuracy of quantities executed through rigorous control of quantity surveys, payment certificates, and costs incurred. They will ensure the reliability of technical and financial data through regular on-site and documentary verification. They will report any anomalies or discrepancies observed and contribute to cost optimization and the overall performance of the projects.

 

His responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

•    Coordinate quantity surveying activities for different project lots. This includes planning measurement operations, consolidating quantitative data, and harmonizing calculation methods;
•    Participate in the preparation of bills of quantities and cost estimates. This includes analyzing plans and technical specifications as well as quantifying the work;
•    Support the preparation and validation of interim and final payment certificates. This includes verifying the quantities executed and the applicable contractual rates;
•    Assist with budget monitoring, cost verification and reconciliation of supplier invoices. This includes variance analysis, contractual compliance checks and coordination with Finance;
•    Collect, validate and consolidate site measurements and contractor progress updates. This includes site visits and confirmation of the physical progress of the work;
•    Maintaining up-to-date business records and ensuring the accuracy of documentation. This includes archiving contractual documents and ensuring the reliability of financial data;
•    Facilitate communication between the QS, engineering, procurement, and finance teams. This includes organizing technical exchanges and providing regular reporting on quantitative and financial progress.

 

 

Job requirements.


Qualifications and experience.

 

•    Have a university degree in Building and Public Works (Civil Engineering) or an equivalent qualification. 
•    Any qualification in project management is an asset.
•    Have at least 3 years of experience in building and public works, specifically in mining or industrial construction projects. 
•    Having an understanding of the preparation of the bill of quantities and the perimeter
•    Experience in cost tracking, preparing payment certificates, and validating invoices is required.
•    Experience in on-site quantitative verification for civil engineering, structural, mechanical, electrical, and piping work
•    Having knowledge of tender support documents and business processes
•    Experience in a project management office (PMO) or project support environment is an asset.

 

Technical skills.

 

•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
•    Ability to write reports and present documents
•    Familiarity with workflow platforms such as ORB and SAP is required.
•    Have a good understanding of contractual documentation and project controls.
•    Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
•    Having a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of quantity surveying
•    Being financially conscious and results-oriented
•    To have a proactive and collaborative mindset
