Job Description

 

The Underground Cable Bolter Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient installation of cable bolts and ground support systems in underground mining operations. The role ensures the stability of excavations by reinforcing rock masses in compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.

 

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

    • Operate cable bolting machines in underground mining areas in accordance with safety procedures and operational guidelines
    • Install cable bolts, resin, and grout systems to support underground excavations
    • Read and interpret ground support designs, plans, and geological instructions
    • Conduct pre-start inspections and ensure equipment is in good working condition
    • Identify ground instability risks and report hazards immediately
    • Work closely with geotechnical, drill and blast, and development teams to ensure proper ground support installation
    • Ensure proper mixing and application of grout and resin materials
    • Maintain accurate records of installed cable bolts and completed work
    • Follow all KCC safety standards, procedures, and environmental policies
    • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
    • Maintain housekeeping standards in the work area

 

 

Job Requirements 

 

Qualifications and Experiences 

 

  • Hold a post-primary school leaving certificate (at least 4 years), a Professional Aptitude Certificate (BAP), or an equivalent state diploma.
  • Formal training or certification in underground mining operations or heavy equipment operation is an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating cable bolting equipment in underground mining
  • Experience in mechanized underground mining environments
  • Familiarity with different types of cable bolting systems and ground support techniques
  • Applicants must hold Congolese nationality.
