Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

MUMI is recruiting a " General Manager of Asset Protection "

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the hierarchy, the incumbent ensures the management and strategic supervision of the security and safety of all Mutanda employees, assets and equipment. He/she:

  • Plans and guarantees the physical and electronic security of the mine site to ensure the continuity of operations without interruption due to security issues.
  • Provides accurate, upfront intelligence to support strategic security decision-making.
  • Stands ready to intervene to secure people and property when needed.

 

Minimum qualification

  • University degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
  • Qualification in safety management.
  • Previous experience in the security services (military or private in the mining sector), background in the police with a staff officer rank or diploma in security.

 

 

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in an operating sector, including at least 5 years in the DRC.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a management position in industrial safety.
  • Excellent command of French and English, both written and oral; Knowledge of Swahili is an asset.
  • Intercultural communication skills.
  • Good understanding of security issues in Africa.
  • Experience in managing complex security situations (protests, arrests, interactions with local stakeholders).
  • Basic knowledge of electronic security.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with department heads and the security team to implement asset, people, product, and information security (APPI) programs.
  • Ensure the consistent application of these programs, with a focus on proactive security, the fight against illegal mining, organized crime, and information security.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to management regarding political, community, mining and industry developments.
  • Collect, analyze and disseminate safety-relevant information.
  • Plan for emergency evacuations.
  • Oversee all aspects of security: physical security, access control, guarding, risk assessments, response teams, electronic security, CCTV monitoring and alarm systems.
  • Develop integrated electronic security systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain close relations with the national security forces: Police, Mines Police, FARDC, ANR, Directorate of Immigration.
  • Train and develop security personnel.
  • Manage the budget allocated to security.
  • Implement a skills transfer program for the benefit of national employees.
  • Develop security policies and procedures for the department and the organization as a whole.
  • Supervise all safety operations on the mine site.
