Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

Main objectives of the position
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Services and Development, the Drill and Blasting Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the drilling and blasting operations team, including drilling and blasting contractors, managing them to safely deliver daily, weekly and monthly plans to the required quality.
Minimum qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or equivalent
- Valid blasting certificate would be a great advantage
Required Experience
- 6 years of experience of Drill and Blasting in large open-pit mines including 2-3 years in the supervisory position.
- Experience working in operational activities at the mine.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage drilling equipment and operators to execute planned drill meters,
- Liaise with the blasting contractor and all of its activities to provide an inventory of blasted rock according to the mine's schedule,
- Develop, review and implement best practices for all drilling and blasting activities, with a focus on blasting optimization.
- Lead and oversee blasting optimization in collaboration with blasting engineers and the blasting contractor, with a focus on improving fragmentation on "mine-to-mill" concepts.
- Assist in training and workforce enhancement through successful skills transfer.
- Implement a program of ongoing training and development to influence the transfer of skills and technology for successful succession planning.
- Interface with mine stakeholders, all departments and contractors to ensure the success and safety of drilling and blasting operations.
- Carry out the mine's operational drilling plan in accordance with the blasting schedule, ensuring sufficient material for the loading activity
- Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy
