About Glencore Capital Projects Group (CPG)
The Capital Projects Group (CPG) is Glencore’s dedicated organisation for developing and delivering selected major capital projects across its global Commodity Departments. Working within the Life of Asset (LOA) management process, CPG will typically begin supporting selected major projects post concept development when a project is gated to the pre-Feasibility stage (PFS entry). Collaborating deeply with the respective Commodity Department and regional team, CPG is able to shape, develop and execute, major projects from PFS onwards, into Feasibility and then Execution and handover, deploying organisation capability and project management expertise to achieve targeted outcomes safely and with predictable capital productivity.
Operating with agility and deep expertise, CPG will collaborate with each Commodity Department to develop fit for purpose delivery models that leverage and maximise regional capabilities and skills for each project that it either supports or is accountable for. As Glencore’s portfolio and LOA plans evolve, CPG will strive to continue enhance its impact and influence, driving safe, responsible and sustainable project delivery to the business.

Qualifications

Professional degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields.

Specialization or training in Contract Management or Supply Chain is desirable.
Main Objective
Lead and coordinate the team of Contract Administrators and Buyers responsible for managing the full lifecycle of project commercial processes (contracts and procurement), from tendering through execution to close-out. The Commercial Lead ensures compliance with contracts and procurement schedules, supports team performance, and guarantees optimal commercial and contractual conditions are achieved for the project.

This position operates in a dynamic and high-demand environment within a major mining capital project. It requires strong leadership and technical skills to manage multiple contracting and procurement processes simultaneously, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

Experience & Skills
-
Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial and contract management or project procurement roles within large-scale mining, infrastructure, or energy projects.

Strong knowledge of tendering processes, contract formation, and execution procedures under EPC/EPCM or similar frameworks.

Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, manage workload distribution, and ensure quality in contract administration.

Skilled in the use and interpretation of commercial and contractual documentation, including commercial terms, schedules, and payment conditions.

Ability to generate key performance indicators (KPIs) to track contract performance, tender progress, and team productivity.

Experience interfacing with internal stakeholders (engineering, legal, procurement, project controls) and external contractors.

Strong communication skills in English and Spanish.

Proactive, results-oriented, and able to manage priorities in a schedule-driven environment.
Key Accountabilities

Lead and support daily activities of the contract administration and buyer team across the full contract lifecycle.

Supervise tendering processes, ensuring timelines and internal governance requirements are met.

Coordinate with each Contract Administrator / Buyer to ensure tender and award milestones are achieved and contracts reflect the most competitive and achievable conditions.

Review and validate documentation prepared by team members, including RFQs, contract drafts, amendments, and close-out packages.

Monitor and enforce compliance with contract/procurement schedules and execution plans.

Promote the inclusion of local contractors and suppliers, ensuring contractual alignment with social and regional commitments.

Develop and report on performance indicators for commercial status, tender progress, claims, and team workload.

Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to Contract Administrators, Senior Administrators, and Buyers.

Ensure consistency and best practices in commercial management are applied across the team.

Support the Commercial Manager in audits, meetings, and risk reviews, as required.

Act as liaison with project stakeholders to ensure effective coordination across disciplines.
