About The Role

The Senior Specialist – Air Quality, GHG, Climate Change, Noise, Vibrations and Soil is responsible for the integrated management of key environmental components within the MARA and regional project portfolio. The role ensures the development and execution of environmental studies, monitoring programs, modelling, and mitigation plans aligned with Argentine regulation, international standards (IFC, ICMM, ISO, GHG Protocol, TCFD), and Glencore’s corporate commitments. It plays a critical role in supporting permitting, project design, and operational readiness through high-quality technical outputs and proactive risk management.

 

Qualifications

 

  • University degree in Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry, Natural Resources, Geology, or related fields.
  • Postgraduate studies in climate change, sustainability, or soil management are desirable.
  • +8 years of total experience in environmental management within mining or extractive industries.
  • +5 years of experience in air quality, GHG, noise, vibrations, and soil management.
  • Advanced Spanish and English (written and spoken).
  • Strong knowledge of GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, IPCC, TCFD, IFC Performance Standards, and Argentine environmental regulations.
  • Experience with modelling tools such as AERMOD, CALPUFF, CadnaA, vibration modelling software, and GIS systems.

 

Primary Purpose Of The Role

 

To lead and ensure the effective management of environmental components including air quality, greenhouse gases, climate change, noise, vibrations, and soil through the design and execution of monitoring programs, development of GHG inventories and climate risk assessments, environmental modelling, implementation of mitigation strategies, coordination of technical studies and consultants, and reporting of environmental KPIs to stakeholders.

 

Operating Context

 

This role operates across project and corporate environments, supporting permitting, studies, and project development phases. It works in a multidisciplinary setting alongside Engineering, Operations, Sustainability, and Community Relations, interacting with regulators, consultants, and international stakeholders. The role supports decision-making through modelling, risk analysis, and technical insights.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Acts as a key technical reference, ensuring environmental compliance, reducing risks, and strengthening sustainability and climate strategy across projects
  • Design and implement monitoring programs for air quality, noise, and vibrations.
  • Develop and manage GHG inventories aligned with GHG Protocol and ISO standards.
  • Perform atmospheric dispersion and acoustic/vibration modelling.
  • Assess climate change risks using IPCC and TCFD frameworks.
  • Develop soil management and remediation plans.
  • Coordinate external consultants and ensure quality delivery of studies.
  • Propose and implement mitigation measures.
  • Report environmental KPIs and support decision-making.
  • Provide environmental input during engineering and project execution phases.
  • Represent the company in technical forums and stakeholder engagements.
