Glencore Copper is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to support our global copper operations to be based at our Baar office in Switzerland. This is a critical partner to the Head of HSE and plays a key part in delivering our global health and safety objectives, ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance across our mining and processing operations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible leadership and champion a culture of safety aligned with Glencore’s values.
- Support the implementation of the Copper HSE Strategy, ensuring performance and accountability at every level.
- Monitor compliance with legal and corporate HSE standards and requirements.
- Advise and assist regional and asset leadership teams on health and safety systems, policies, and performance improvement.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and assurance activities to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead or support incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure implementation of effective corrective actions.
- Provide training, mentoring, and support to staff to foster a proactive safety culture.
- Report on HSE performance metrics and contribute to risk evaluation and mitigation strategies.
About You
You are an accomplished health and safety professional with both operational and corporate experience in the resources or heavy industry sector. You thrive in multinational environments and are skilled in aligning local practices with global frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified in Health, Safety, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in HSE management, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and international standards.
- Demonstrated experience in policy and procedure development and implementation.
- Proficient in risk assessment and incident investigation methodologies.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and report writing skills.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate across diverse, cross-functional teams.
- International experience within large, complex organisations.
Working Conditions
This role requires approximately 25% travel globally, including to operational mine sites (open pit and underground) and copper processing facilities. The role involves occasional exposure to challenging site environments (e.g., noise, vibration, heat, altitude).
