About the MARA Project

 

The MARA Project is a copper and molybdenum development located in the province of Catamarca, Argentina. Situated in the Andes Mountains at an elevation of approximately 2,600 meters above sea level, MARA integrates the Agua Rica deposit with the existing Alumbrera processing facilities to optimize resources and infrastructure. The project is owned by Glencore, one of the world’s leading diversified natural resources companies, recognized for its integrated operating model.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Tertiary degree (Business Administration / Logistics / Engineering).
  • 4–6+ years of experience in on-site coordination for mining or EPCM projects.
  • English: intermediate to advanced (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in corporate systems: SAP, Concur, Aconex / SharePoint, and advanced Excel.

 

Primary Purpose of the Role

 

To provide logistical and administrative support for the MARA Site, coordinating end-to-end support for project teams and contractors. The role includes:

  • Coordination of travel, rotations, and on-site support for personnel and visitors.
  • Responsibility for contractor mobilization and demobilization to site.
  • Management of the full service-to-payment flow (scope confirmation – PR/PO – service entry / GRN – invoice approval with Accounts Payable).
  • Maintaining up-to-date records of services, costs, contracts, meetings, and KPIs for Project Leaders.
  • Ongoing coordination with Alumbrera Operations, contractors, Procurement, Contracts, and Accounts Payable to meet delivery and compliance objectives.
  • Preparation of agendas, minutes, and presentations for workshops and meetings, ensuring proper knowledge management in Aconex / SharePoint.
  • Management and maintenance of the MARA Project database and document repositories.
  • Handling minor procurement activities to support site operations.
  • Supporting the Site Management team across all related activities and cross-functional coordination.

 

Operating Context

 

This is a site-based role (MARA camp), providing daily logistical and administrative support to MARA Project teams and contractors. It operates in a highly interactive environment with Alumbrera Operations, contractors, Procurement, Contracts, and Accounts Payable, under rotation schemes and demanding KPIs.

  • Manages end-to-end processes including travel and rotations, service requests, and invoice/AP flow, ensuring compliance with asset procedures.
  • Maintains and administers the MARA Project database (Aconex / SharePoint / Excel records), ensuring data integrity, timely reporting, and audit readiness.
  • Operates in a dynamic environment with frequent meetings and workshops, multiple time zones, and shifting priorities, requiring strong planning, tracking, and communication capabilities.

 

Control Elements

 

  • Planning and Scheduling: Site logistics plan (travel and rotations), service request calendar, and weekly priorities agreed with Project Leaders; deviation tracking.
  • Policies and Compliance: Adherence to asset procedures, HSE requirements, site access rules, and document control within Contracts and Aconex.
  • Service-to-Payment Control: Full traceability from scope confirmation through PR/PO, service entry, invoice receipt, AP approval, and payment.
  • Document Control: Timely distribution, review, and closure of meeting minutes in Aconex / SharePoint; version control and audit traceability.
  • Database Integrity: Single source of truth for suppliers and services (site records in Excel/SharePoint), with periodic reconciliation against SAP/AP.

 

Experience / Skills

 

  • Reports to the MARA Site Manager and acts as the operational interface between on-site contractors, technical teams, and Glencore LATAM offices.
  • Plans and coordinates site visits and work fronts, including drilling campaigns and other field activities, consolidating logistical and support needs.
  • Maintains daily interaction with contractors regarding schedules, access, operational requirements, and document compliance.
  • Coordinates with HSE (inductions, permits, access control, medical clearances) and technical teams (Construction, Technical Services, Geology, etc.) to align priorities and work windows.
  • Works with Community Relations for access and logistics of visitors linked to community activities.
  • Acts as liaison with Glencore LATAM (Procurement, Contracts, Regional Coordination) to close the service-to-payment cycle and ensure full traceability.
  • Manages rotations and travel, camp/hotel bookings, and ground transportation; controls allocations and last-minute changes.
  • Maintains records (services, POs/contracts, costs, KPIs) and prepares weekly summaries for the Site Manager.
  • Schedules meetings/workshops, issues minutes on the same day, and follows up on actions through to closure.
  • Uploads and controls documentation in Aconex / SharePoint with version control and traceability.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Plan and manage site logistics and rotations, including weekly schedules, flights, accommodation, and transportation, ensuring timely arrival of personnel, contractors, and visitors.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, training sessions, and professional development activities for project personnel.
  • Provide guidance and direction to other coordinators or project integrators responsible for similar activities, ensuring overall efficiency of the project’s administrative team.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and milestones related to administrative support; guide assigned administrators and apply corrective actions when needed.
  • Support the Site Construction Manager in achieving project objectives through the implementation of project control requirements across the capital portfolio.
  • Ensure effective administrative coordination between operational departments and suppliers/contractors alongside the supply chain; resolve day-to-day administrative issues.
  • Prepare monthly trend logs and update residual risk values and risk impact across all project deliverables.
