Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

Main objectives of the position
Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Study & Technical Manager will be responsible for leading the Project Development team from the early stages of studies to delivery to ensure that project and technical objectives and value are defined and delivered.
Minimum qualification
- Tertiary qualifications: Relevant engineering degree or equivalent (essential).
- Project management qualification (essential), e.g. PMI – PMP (preferred).
Required Experience
- At least 15 years of experience in the mining industry in operations and project development roles.
Required skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, including with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary projects in an industrial environment.
- English language skills are required, but bilingualism (French) would be considered beneficial
- Significant experience in communicating information and technical results to senior management, including non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the scope of the project by understanding Glencore Copper Asset's business drivers and integrating them into a relevant plan.
- Maintain ongoing alignment of the project scope with business objectives and make recommendations for modifications to the project to improve the effectiveness of achieving business outcomes or strategic intent.
- Influence decisions based on understanding strategy and business drivers and contribute to the implementation strategy within the project.
- Guide the internal approval process through the technical and business evaluation process to achieve the required outcomes.
- Implement the project in accordance with approved parameters (e.g., HSE, scope, quality, budget, schedule, etc.) in order to deliver an operational asset with effective risk management and compliance management plans in place.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to understand and continuously update critical project deliverables.
- Follow a rigorous problem-solving methodology, analyze a wide range of data, and interpret to provide solutions to business-critical problems.
- Fund the project and ensure staff retention for the duration of the project.
- Collaborate and effectively manage project interfaces by continuously leading and collaborating with appropriate stakeholders to align and maximize project delivery efforts.
- Design and implement innovative problem-solving approaches to accelerate project delivery and other stage-change improvements.
- Attend and participate in daily Five Minutes of Safety discussions and communications related to safety according to Glencore (GCOM).
- Promote an exemplary safety culture by integrating Glencore's requirements and MUMI's safety principles.
- Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
