Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

MUMI is hiring a: " Mine Planning Engineer – Short Term"

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Mining Engineer – Short-Term Planning, the incumbent of this position will be expected to provide technical mining engineering services for the Mutanda Mine with a focus on planning, but also providing support to the Improvement and Delivery Groups of the Mines Department. He/She should also expect to perform reasonable additional duties that are related to his/her role.

 

Minimum qualification

 

  • Have a university degree in mining engineering or its equivalent.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mining in an open pit mine.
  • Use of Deswik, MineSight for mine design and planning.
  • Experience in the design of open pits, backfill and waste rock dumps, production planning, preparation of monthly reports and quarterly forecasts.
  • Short- and medium-term mine planning to ensure that mining can take place in the future, as required.

 

Required skills

 

  • Good intercultural, verbal and written communication in French. Fluency in English is an asset,

  • Time management skills,

 

 Key Responsibilities

 

  • Mine planning, design and scheduling.
  • Responsible for the planning and design of drilling and mining activities.
  • Collect and analyze mine data.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports for the Mine Department.
  • Develop, maintain, and share skills with other engineers.
  • Maintain good communication with other sections of the mine department such as operations, dewatering, geotechnical and topography.
  • Participate in incident investigations as required.
  • Promote the requirement for zero environmental or community incidents.
  • Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
