Job description.

 

Reporting directly to the General Manager – Heavy Mining Equipment Maintenance, the incumbent will be responsible for enabling and empowering KCC’s maintenance execution teams, by transferring skills and providing quality coaching and mentoring. He/she will ensure the availability and reliability of the surface mining fleet, ensuring strict compliance with KCC and Glencore standards. In addition, he/she will actively participate in optimizing the work management processes of the surface mobile fleet, by closely supervising the execution and planning teams. Finally, he/she will contribute to the continuous improvement of equipment strategies, planning and scheduling quality, while working towards constant optimization of safety, quality and efficiency of operations.

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Demonstrate absolute commitment and coaching to provide a safe and healthy work environment, where risks and hazards are identified and effectively mitigated. This also includes championing and modeling the proactive management of high-risk tasks, life-threatening hazard protocols , critical controls, corporate risks and local mining regulations. Additionally, this involves defining and setting health and safety expectations in line with industry best practices.
  • Maintain and adhere to budgeting, forecasting, cost management and analysis processes, ensuring compliance with corporate financial reporting and governance policies, procedures and standards. This also includes enabling the maintenance budget in line with asset lifecycle and machine availability commitments.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively. Demonstrate the highest professional and ethical standards, ensuring all actions are transparent and in line with company policies and values. This also includes acting as a role model and acting as a coach and inspiration to national managers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate operational and technical excellence by anticipating issues and guiding the team to achieve agreed departmental and business objectives, in order to maintain and enhance business value. This also includes guiding the surface maintenance execution team to success, by identifying and ensuring that required skills, equipment, tools and materials are defined, planned and available at the workplace.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion in the development of departmental plans and the delivery of a shared corporate strategy. This also includes driving compliance with planned and predictive maintenance commitments, PCR and fleet assembly schedules.
  • Support and enable surface mining operations with targeted maintenance execution solutions for loading, hauling and auxiliary fleets to deliver targeted equipment availability, planned maintenance schedule compliance and field support.

 

Job requirements .

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Hold an engineering degree or equivalent diploma in a relevant field (mechanics, electromechanics, etc.).
  • Have at least 20 years of experience in industrial maintenance, including at least 10 years in a maintenance coaching role.
  • Have proven expertise in maintaining a fleet of heavy surface mining equipment.
  • To be a recognized expert in the maintenance of CAT equipment.
  • Master SAP software.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.

 

Technical skills.

 

  • Skills in tactical and strategic planning,
  • Extensive knowledge of heavy surface mining equipment, particularly CAT equipment.
  • Expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance techniques.
  • Reliability-based maintenance management (RCM) skills.
  • Proficiency in maintenance planning and scheduling tools.
  • Ability to analyze performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Be bilingual (French and English).
